The region of Rizoupoli has a large number of functions that require large areas, such as many industrial units, the Apollo Stadium and the Cemetery. The site is located very close to a stream, “Perissos” train station and the Stadium. It also includes the area of Columbia, the abandoned building of a famous discography company and Probona Park.
The proposal aims to develop open green spaces, re-use Columbia building, which will house the Museum of Discography and to create a complex of buildings for 20 ceramists. One element that characterises our solution is the extension of the stadium’s axis which diagonally crosses the plot. We organise the Columbia complex on the first level, while at the second level we develop a series of open spaces with different qualities that lead to the main square. The block for the 20 ceramists is placed on the natural slope, on the northern side of the square. |

This project is an approach to research methodology and design of communal activity space focusing on articial and natural elements which define space. The study area is located in the centre of Athens, very close to the archaeological site of Kerameikos, opposite to Technopolis and next to the warehouse of Athens Railway.
The area is a key spot to the nearby cultural functions and attracts many visitors every day. The site has marvellous views of Technopolis, Lycavittos Hill and Aigaleo mountain.
The prososal involves a new function for the warehouse, placing an exhibition centre and Athens Railway Museum into its old casing. Moreover, a safe connection between the site and Technopolis is designed comprising new pedestrian crossings and a new bridge. In addition, we place two squares, one just across the warehouse and another at the opposite side of the plot.

This project constitutes a study of urban functions in relation to the socio-economic structure and organisation of urban space. The main targets are urban renewal and new developments. The study focuses on the urban tissue and its elements, such as the typology of spatial organisation and the relations between the built and open space, as well as the private and public space.
Papastathis Camp holds a dominant position in the area. It is located in the southern boundaries of the municipality very close to the highway, the Suburban Railway and Athens Railway Centre. The existing green areas are reorganised and integrated in the pedestrian tissue. New developments of social, cultural and commercial functions are settled as well as some housing blocks.
